TEACHING

Jos Cole teaches saxophone, composition/arrangement, and music theory to students of all ages and abilities. Trained at the Royal Northern College of Music, he brings the same standard of musicianship and attention to detail to his teaching as he does to the stage and the page. Lessons are available online or at the student's home, with a travel charge applied for in-person visits.

  • Saxophone Lessons

    Saxophone tuition from an RNCM-trained professional, tailored to your goals and level. Whether you are picking up the instrument for the first time, working towards an exam, or looking to develop your playing beyond the grades, lessons are structured around you.

    Jos teaches classical, jazz, and pop styles across soprano, alto, tenor, and baritone saxophone, with particular expertise in the classical graded syllabus. Lessons follow ABRSM or Trinity syllabuses for those working towards grades, and can support GCSE and A Level study where needed.

  • Composition/Arrangement Lessons

    For students who want to develop their own musical voice. Drawing on his RNCM degree in saxophone and composition, and his first class honours in the composition discipline, alongside his Rob Buckland Prize winning work, Jos offers guided tuition in composition, arrangement, and music software including Sibelius and Logic.

    Suitable for complete beginners through to advanced students, and for those supporting GCSE and A Level composition coursework.

  • Music Theory Lessons

    A strong foundation in music theory opens doors across every area of musical life. Jos teaches theory from beginner level through to Grade 5 and beyond, with a clear and practical approach that makes complex concepts genuinely accessible.

    Lessons support ABRSM and Trinity graded exams, GCSE and A Level music, and general musicianship development for those who simply want to understand music more deeply.
